The dunes backing the beach from the lifeguard stand to Baby Beach are an ancient Hawaiian burial site. The entire stretch of beach is  popular with runners; it is possible to continue on past the cove on a well worn trail along a sea-wall. This will bring you to a clothing optional beach and further through a small wooded area leading to Paia Bay.
